Fishing Licenses
A Florida Fishing license is required for out of state visitors 16 years of age and older. A license is required for Florida residents 16 to 64 years of age. Those persons 65 and over must carry proof of age and residency and must have been a resident for at least six months.
Out-of-State Residents - Freshwater
$16.50 - 7-day license
$31.50 - annual license
Out-of-State Residents - Saltwater
$ 6.50 - 3 day license
$16.50 - 7-day license
$31.50 - annual license
** Exemption: Fishing from pier that has been issued a pier saltwater fishing license or from a boat having a valid vessel saltwater fishing license.
Florida Residents - Freshwater
$126.50 - $301.50 - lifetime license (based on current age)
$61.50 - 5-year license
$13.50 - annual license
Florida Residents - Saltwater
$126.50 - $301.50 - lifetime license (based on current age)
$61.50 - 5-year license
$13.50 - annual license
** Exemption: Fishing from a pier, dry and or from a boat having a valid vessel with a saltwater fishing license.
An additional $.50 subagent's fee may be charged for any license or permit not purchased directly from the tax collector.
Saltwater fishing licenses are sold at all county tax collector's offices and many bait and tackle shops. Licenses may also be obtained over the telephone by calling Toll Free 1-888-347-4356. Licenses are now available online at http:⁄⁄www.marinefisheries.org. An additional fee is charged for these services.
You do not need a license if you are:
- Under 16 years old
- Fishing from a for hire vessel that has a valid vessel license such as a guide, charter, or party boat.
- A nonresident fishing for recreational purposes from a pier that has a valid pier saltwater fishing license.
- Fishing from a boat that has a valid recreational vessel fishing license.
